Genius! Applied to Bums!

One question we get asked a lot is: Cloth or Disposable? This is something that every new parent faces, and usually they face it with dread. Just one more choice in a slew of things about how to raise your child. Well, seven weeks into raising Acony we have an answer: Cloth, and we furthermore recommend Cotton Babies for finding the best cloth diapers.

During Acony's gestation, we went back and forth on this issue, sought advice from friends, and researched whatever the great world wide web had to say. One friend provided us with a 30,000-word email with her thoughts. It was a daunting process. We at first decided to use some disposable diapers people gave us at baby showers initially and then experiment with some cloth diapers after having the baby for a week or so.

We ordered few different types of cloth diapers from Cotton Babies, and ultimately settled on their very own Bum Genius type of diapers. We have found them to be very easy to put on Acony and extremely easy to clean. Even better than that, they are one-size-fits-all, so we do not have to buy new diapers every time Acony puts on another couple of pounds.

Cultural Education

Back in Acony's third week, we decided she had seen enough of the house and the outdoors - that it was time to show her some of the wonders of the art world. The Philadelphia Museum of Art was a lovely place to go, and if Acony decided she didn't like it, there are plenty of lovely outdoor walks (been there, done that). It turned out, Acony did enjoy herself. She particularly liked the Impressionists... She was less than impressed with the medieval fountain... But the view of Philadelphia's skyline was very impressive... Oh, and having Acony with us gave us one special treat: a private dining area. That's right. Pretty much as soon as we walked into this cafe with the baby, everyone else scattered. Neat trick, huh?
