The Coast Post: Part II

I have grown to like "hotels" and it's not hard to see why. In my experience they have pools, koi ponds, big bouncy beds, airports nearby and, most importantly, family right next door. The hotel we stayed at on the Coast overlooked the Pacific and I talked lots about how I could hear the waves crashing. Note the lovely NW weather...seriously, cool and foggy, excellent!

In addition to sand castle building and splashing in the surf, we flew a kite and peeked in some tide pools: star fish, sea anemone, crabs and barnacles. Next year - surfing!

The Coast Post: Part I

We went to the Coast to celebrate my Birthday when Grandma came to visit. I was my usual stylish self.

We ate some wonderful breakfast food - chocolate croissants, pesto cheese and tomatoe sandwiches and eggs - yum! I sat like a big girl on a stool and, when I was done, socialized with the locals.

We went to the Oregon Aquarium. I saw some of my favorite marine animals: octopus, sea horses, otters and octopuses. And of course I did some swinging and climbing.

This was and excellent restaurant. They served me my pizza in a pink Cadillac, which I took home and continue to play with.

These are a few of my Favoite Things

I got some neat new toys for my Birthday. This was an unexpected and delightful reward for turning two! Here are some that happened to get their pictures taken with me.

A backpack with a 'stripy bear' that rides in the back. At first I was enthralled with the bear and didn't notice the bag. Now I like the bag too and will even let Mom strap the bear in back

Ballerina dress up dolls. I like to lay out all the outfits.

Penguin socks from the Oregon Aquarium, white moccasins and a new drink that matches Mom and Dad's.

Lacrosse sticks - 'cross' to me. We do Spanish not French in this house!

A tea set...

...cupcake baking equipment and some new jewelry. I'm quite the hostess!

Yep, I turned two a few days ago.

It's been uncharacteristically warm (ok sweltering) here the past few days so I haven't been able to do much writing. I'll try to catch you up on my fun-filled birthday celebration. I'll start with the party and work my way backwards through the birthday week in installments - weather permitting!

One of my pals (the handsome guy in the center) has the same birthday as me! So we had a party in one of our favorite local parks.

I used to be a HUGE fan of the swings, but lately I've really gotten to like trying out different slides. Here I am racing some friends.

And the big moment that makes you officially a year older.

I loved, and still talk about, these yummy cupcakes. There were also yellow ones, which I, sadly, didn't get to sample...maybe next year.

Thanks to all the well-wishes and celebrants who were there in spirit or in person!
