Happy Birthday Parts 2 and 3

Well, I did feel a little bad about raining on the birthday plans so yesterday I took Mom and Dad out to another one of my favorite places to eat: Peanut Butter and Ellie's. It's a kid-friendly place that has good food and drink for Mom's and Dad's too. Here I am eating one of the toy trains.



I also picked out this orange balloon for Mom. I kept a close eye and tight grip on it all night so it wouldn't float away.



Tonight on our evening walk we stopped by a local restaurant for some dessert. I was a great sport about sitting at a restaurant while my parents ate chocolate things in front of me. I did get to have a piece of watermelon with a little whipped cream - quite delicious and a wonderful way to end the week!

Birthday Times

Yesterday was Mom's birthday. We had a lovely dinner. Mom and Dad tried to go to two "nice" restaurants, but I protested. In the end, we had yummy, familiar Chipotle. Don't feel bad, Mom said she was happy to have dinner as a family where we could all be happy and comfortable. I had a HUGE meal and charmed the folks that worked there.

Dad tried to take a birthday pic, but it was getting dark and we didn't really cooperate. In this picture Mom's blurry...

Helping Out

People always say I look like my Dad. What do you think?



One thing's for sure - I sure like to help him out around the house. See, he needs help taking my high-chair down.



So does Mom I guess. Must be stuck or something.



We had to switch to the bigger high-chair so there was less distance between the table and my mouth, thus less food in my lap. You see, I'm a bit if a messy eater. But I get the job done (yes, that is spinach on my left ear).

Choo-Choo!

More fun at the Zoo to report! We visited on the weekend, so Dad could come too. And they had some other special exhibits open like bunnies at the petting zoo.



We rode the Zoo train to the Rose Garden and back.



I spent a lot of time stretching back, climbing over the seat, and generally playing around.







Dad tried to get a photo of me AND the Engine, but I was intent on watching the Engine myself. Pretty neat!

Here, There, Everywhere

I guess I ought to catch everyone up on my travels of late...first there's Father's Day. Here I am helping Mom wrap Dad's present. I showed a lot of restraint with that paper stuff. It is very confusing: eat this, don't eat that. I try to be patient with Mom and Dad, but they are awfully demanding sometimes!



Anyway, this is my Dad, of course.



We've had some fun outings. More visits to the Zoo and Children's Museum and some berry picking - Strawberries that is. I mostly smeared them all over the place.





And here I am contemplating Mom's roast corn. Yum!



I should also tell you about my new skills. They include crawling at break-neck speed towards forbidden "toys", pulling up and cruising along, eating pesto and asparagus, and playing frisbee (just kidding)

Talking and Other Evidence of Growing

As you know from reading this blog, I'm quite a typist. However, I'm yet to be much of a conversationalist, unless you count "Bah bah bah, m-m-m-m-mah-mah, de-de-g-ge-d-ge." Dad was thrilled to hear me say something close to "bear" recently, while holding my Texas Bear. Dad says that what I said is probably spelled BEH, but he's willing to give me the benefit of the doubt.



Also, I'm having fun tugging at my sleeves until my shirt comes off.



And, I've been coming up with ideas on how to put some colors on these walls.

Boy am I Tired!

Well I rounded out this week by honing my locomotor skills. Sometimes I scoot. Sometimes I do the more classic crawl. Mom and Dad tried to catch me on camera but, well, let's just say they need to work on their technology-using skills or something. There is this abridged version for your enjoyment:



All that locomoting sure wore me out! Usually Mom or Dad wind me down after a nice relaxing bath. We sing, they pat my back, eventually I drift off to sleep. Since I've started scooting it's been a lot harder to get to sleep. Even with their tried and true relaxation techniques and my favorite songs I resist. Instead I'm sitting up and crawling around the crib. It's a disaster.

Well, long story short, tonight after the usual bed time routine, I was on my own to get to sleep. I did a bit of protesting, but much to Mom and Dad's delight, was quickly quiet and snoozing. Curious, Dad came in to check on me. He discovered I'd learned a third skill this week: sleeping sitting up. Yes folks, I put myself to sleep leaning against the side of the crib. If only pictures could be taken without waking me up!

Gather Ye Rosebuds

Here I am at the International Rose Test Garden. It's the sort of place where, once you start taking pictures, you can't stop. There are so many beautiful flowers!




Mom and I found a shady spot and had some lunch. I made eyes and talked with everyone who walked by. I was all smiles and kicks.

And I re-organized Mom's bag.



After we took in the flowers and city views (you know you're having a good day when you see Mt. St. Helen and Mt. Hood) we walked over to the Zoo. Lot's of kids there! Lot's of walking! I was tuckered by the time we got home!
